The Saturn-Pluto Conjunction of 2020
Saturn and Pluto align in conjunction in the sky every 31 to 38 years. The conjunction has come around again and culminates in exactitude in January 2020. On Earth, the corresponding psychological pattern experienced by us over the course of the two to three years this conjunction forms and then separates is one of constriction, hardship, darkness, and eventual rebirth. With Saturn’s 29-year orbit and Pluto’s 248-year orbit around the Sun, the movement of this conjunction is slow. During this time, Pluto and Saturn together compel us to struggle and find our power within.
In this workshop we will discuss this phenomenon in historical context, in current-day experience globally, and through investigation of the conjunction as it transits our own natal charts and how it is experienced personally.
Registrants are asked to provide their birth date, exact time, and city/state of birth at two days prior to the workshop. No prior knowledge of astrology is necessary for this workshop.
Shadow and Polarities in Astrology
In his research into the symbolic meaning of his patient’s dreams and conversations, C.G. Jung observed recurring archetypes. He proposed that these archetypes channel experiences and emotions, resulting in recognizable patterns of behavior. Jung observed a correlation between these archetypal images and the archetypes associated with the planets and signs of the zodiac and concluded that they were originally inspired by projections of images created by the collective unconscious.
Join this small group discussion of the shadow side of the archetypes represented in our solar system. Referencing our own astrological charts as guides, we will look at how the shadow can manifest. We’ll also examine the polarities and tension of the opposites among the archetypes of the astrological signs and houses.
Prior knowledge of astrology is not a prerequisite to this class, but it is helpful. In advance of class, registrants are asked to provide their place of birth, date of birth, and exact time of their birth. Registrants will receive a copy of their natal chart in class.
Intro to Astrology: Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter
The starry vault of heaven is in truth the open book of cosmic projection…
— Carl Jung, Collective Works, Vol. 8, Page 195.
Join this small group discussion of astrological natal charts and their application in the individuation process. This introductory course typically follows the Intro to Your Rising, Sun, and Moon class and focuses on the “inner planets” of Mercury and Venus and the “social planets” of Saturn and Jupiter.
Registrants paying two weeks in advance of the class will receive a copy of their natal chart, to bring to the class as a reference during the discussion. Registrants will need to provide their email, place of birth, DOB, and—if known—the exact time of birth as listed on their birth record.
The Part of Fortune in Your Individuation Process
Human psychological behavior and the cosmos share archetypal patterns. It is a phenomenal mystery why this is so, but by understanding these patterns we gain an amazingly helpful set of psychological tools for understanding our own individuation process.
In this astrology class/workshop, we’ll look specifically at the Part of Fortune, a mathematically derived point of harmony involving the Ascendant, Sun, and Moon. Its placement in the natal chart describes the place of truest expression of the soul. After a review of the archetypal qualities of the astrological signs and houses, and with guidance by the instructor, participants will take turns interpreting their own Part of Fortune placement.
Some foundational knowledge of astrology is a prerequisite to this class.
